Rob helps clients protect their technological innovations. He has worked mainly in private practice, but also has experience of working in-house within a small start-up company.
Rob handles work in the general field of mechanical engineering. He has particular experience of inventions in the fields of medical devices, the oil and gas exploration and production industry, filtration equipment and construction-related technologies.
While his work mainly involves securing patent protection for client’s inventions by drafting and prosecuting their patent applications, Rob also has experience of contentious matters, including litigation support on a patent he drafted, which was upheld by the UK High Court and Court of Appeal.
Prior to entering the patent profession in 1996, Rob graduated from the University of Aberdeen, where he studied mechanical engineering. He worked in Scotland for 12 years before moving back to his home town in 2008 to take up a position with another IP firm in Leeds.
