Matthew has broad ranging technology experience covering physics, electrical engineering, and software development. He puts that experience to use protecting innovations across a variety of sectors on all matters from patent drafting to litigation, and for a diverse range of clients including SMEs, government organisations, and large corporations; always tailoring his approach to suit their specific needs.
Matthew is a particular expert in preparing and prosecuting patents for nuclear fusion (and ancillary) technologies, and also a specialist in software patents, including patenting artificial intelligence-based technologies.
Matthew graduated with a first class Master’s in Physics from Durham University in 2011, and was awarded a PhD in Plasma Physics from Imperial College London in 2015. He has been working as a patent attorney since 2016. He is a member of the Institute of Physics, with which he is active in providing webinars and one-to-one support sessions to help the physics community understand patents and IP more generally.
