With a background in artificial intelligence and machine learning, Finnian works to understand clients’ technological innovations within this realm and subsequently assist in the pursuit of protection over their invention.
Finnian has an interest in multiple domains of computer science and AI, from natural language processing and language modelling, to image processing and autonomous navigation.
As a trainee, Finnian is working towards his UK and European patent qualifications. By being involved with cases from a wide range of areas in the domain of computing as well as working with skilled and experienced patent attorneys, he continues to cultivate his understanding of many new technologies and the bridge that connects them to patent law.
Finnian holds a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and Mathematics from the University of Manchester, as well as a Master’s degree in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning from the University of Birmingham. As part of his Master’s dissertation, he delved into the field of generative AI, creating a music generation model that generated a short melody based on the mood of a given input image.
