Ashley is a qualified European and UK patent attorney with extensive experience managing patent applications in Europe and across multiple jurisdictions. He has worked with a broad range of clients, from start-ups to multinational corporations, providing strategic intellectual property advice tailored to their business needs. In addition, Ashley is involved in managing competitor patent activity reviews, and subsequent FTO opinions and opposition proceedings before European Patent Office (EPO) – helping clients to defend and strengthen their patent rights.

Ashley has experience in the drafting, prosecution and opposition of a range of technologies such as polymer coatings including latex coatings based on polyester, acrylic and polyester amide/imide systems; recycled polymer products including polyols and polyurethanes; and monomer catalyst systems.

Ashley holds a first-class degree in chemistry from the University of Sheffield and a PhD in inorganic and materials chemistry. He conducted his PhD research in coordination with the A*STAR institute in Singapore. Since joining the patent profession, Ashley has increased his scientific understanding with a focus of green chemistry, industrial catalysis and polymer chemistry. His expertise allows him to understand both the scientific and commercial considerations of innovation, ensuring that intellectual property strategies are aligned with clients’ objectives.
