Simon Bradbury

Simon is a Partner and the Head of the Life Sciences team based in our Manchester office. He is an expert in biotechnology and has a passion for genetics.

Simon’s clients range from large multi-nationals to universities and small spin-out companies. He is experienced at European Patent Office oppositions and appeals and works on a number of technologies including biopharmaceutical and nutraceutical compositions; screening and high throughput assays; polypeptide and nucleotide compositions and related therapies; antibody therapies, nanoparticles/porous beads; diagnostic assays; pro- and pre-biotics, gene chips, bioinformatics and medical equipment.

Simon has a BSc in Genetics and MSc in Oncology and is both a member of the Licensing Executives Society and a Chartered Biologist.

Before entering the patent profession, Simon worked for Alexis Biochemicals (now part of Enzo Life Sciences) and then went on to work for GlaxoSmithKline. He previously trained with another firm before becoming Patent Counsel for Mondelēz International (formerly Kraft Foods). His in-house experience has proven invaluable for advising his current clients on patent strategy and multi-jurisdictional litigation, in addition to helping them negotiate and structure research and licensing deals and open innovation programmes.

Simon is listed as an IP Star in the Managing Intellectual Property patent filing and prosecution rankings for 2016 and 2017 and is described as “excellent all round”.
