Paul Brandon

Paul, jointly with Ian Robinson, heads our electronics and software team and has extensive experience in prosecuting patents relating to inventions in the electronics field. Paul also has busy trade mark practice and as well as being a Registered Trade Mark Attorney, he is a European Trade Mark Attorney and keen member of the International Trademark Association (INTA).

Paul entered the profession in 1988, working for the patents department of Pilkington Plc and then in the intellectual property department of a large firm of solicitors. Paul joined Appleyard Lees in 1993 as a Chartered Patent Attorney and European Patent Attorney and in 1994, he launched and successfully established our Manchester office, but is now based in our Halifax office.

Paul is the author of several articles on aspects of intellectual property law and has presented various talks on intellectual property matters to universities and businesses and is an active member of the Licensing Executives Society (LES).

In 2009 Paul was elected Managing Partner and is responsible for the day to day operations of the firm.
