Alastair Neill

Alastair has been our senior partner since 1994 and joint head of our mechanical team, holding an Honours degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Glasgow. He entered the profession in 1968 and joined Appleyard Lees in 1973.

Alastair has been the President of FICPI-UK, the British Association of the International Federation of Industrial Property Attorneys since 2002, and is a Councillor on the International Executive Committee of FICPI. Since 2006, he has been the President of FICPI’s Finance Advisory Board. As part of his duties he attends regular meetings with the Chief Executive of the UK Intellectual Property Office and is involved in shaping UK and European intellectual property legislation. Alastair is also a UK Council member and International Committee member of the Licensing Executives Society (LES), and is a Fellow of the Institute of Trade Mark Attorneys (FITMA).

Despite his many commitments Alastair still finds time to present talks on various intellectual property matters, both in the UK and overseas. He has spoken recently in Seoul, South Korea and in Washington D.C.
