Howard is a Patent Attorney in our Electronics and Software team and is based in our Manchester office.
Howard has collaborated with leading industry, academic and Government partners in the fields of software, electronic, energy, aerospace and analytical instrumentation technologies. Having worked in industry and the academic sector before joining the profession, he understands the challenges faced in these areas and appreciates the commercial realities of, and the value derivable from, intellectual property.
As well as his BA (Hons) and MA in Natural Sciences (physics, chemistry and materials science), Howard has a PhD in Metallurgy from the University of Cambridge. He also holds an MSc in Computing from The Open University and was awarded a Distinction in the LLM in Intellectual Property Law from The University of Manchester.
Howard is fluent in both English and Portuguese, has published a number of articles in scientific journals and been named as inventor on several patents.
