Robert Cumming

Robert is dual-qualified as a UK and European Registered Trade Mark Attorney an English solicitor. After joining the legal profession in 2003 he gained a broad range of experience in a busy commercial litigation team before specialising in intellectual property law. In a globalised marketplace, knowledge of practice in multiple jurisdictions can be crucial and therefore Robert's secondment to a major IP firm in the US developed his knowledge of this jurisdiction.

Robert is an active committee member of the International Trademarks Association (INTA). After a two-year term on the Internet Committee, he currently sits on the Enforcement Committee where he recently completed a major report analysing the use of survey evidence in trade mark matters in dozens of jurisdictions. Robert also contributes to a broad range of legal publications, including the Community Trade Mark Handbook, Intellectual Property Magazine and the IPKat blog.

Robert's legal background representing clients in court, allied with his experience advising international businesses on brand protection, management and exploitation, allows him to offer advice on a broad range of non-contentious and contentious IP issues.

Robert is based in our Leeds office.
