John-Paul Rooney

John-Paul holds a PhD in High-Frequency Electronics and is a UK and a European Patent Attorney. He specialises in obtaining patents in the electronics and software fields, particularly in Europe and the United States.

He is experienced in obtaining patent protection for improvements to consumer electronics devices, and works extensively for a large multi-national electronics company. John-Paul has first hand experience of the Patents Court in the UK, which was gained during a short pupillage at specialist IP Barristers Hogarth Chambers, based in London. In addition, John-Paul regularly represents clients at hearings at the European Patent Office.

John-Paul is an active member of the Institution of Engineering and Technology and also the International Federation of Industrial Property Attorneys (FICPI). John-Paul has given lectures on a variety of subjects relating to patents and trade marks, including a detailed look at ownership and entitlement of patents.
