Ritchie joined Appleyard Lees in November 2011 and is training under the guidance of Paul Misselbrook and Hugh Sherrard-Smith to become a patent attorney in the mechanical field.
Ritchie holds a Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Bath. During his degree, Ritchie gained industrial experience as a research engineer developing heavy-duty diesel engines at Cummins Ltd. After university, Ritchie worked as a Calibration Engineer for MAHLE Powertrain Ltd (formerly Cosworth Technology Ltd), where he specialised in the engine calibration of high performance road cars.
Before joining Appleyard Lees, Ritchie spent some time as a research engineer at the University of Birmingham. His investigations concerning the combustion and emissions of gasoline alternative biofuels, in particular 2,5-dimethylfuran, have been published in various peer-reviewed scientific journals.
Ritchie is based at our Halifax office.
