Chris joined Appleyard Lees in September 2011 and is training under the guidance of David Walsh and Bobby Smithson to become a patent attorney specialising in the chemical field.

Chris graduated from the University of Nottingham with a first class MSci degree in chemistry. During his degree, Chris’ studies into the synthesis of 1,2-benzisoxazoles resulted in the publication of a new method for their synthesis and the award of a research grant from AstraZeneca. Chris has experience of working in industry as a Medicinal Chemist at GlaxoSmithKline, where he conducted research into inhibitors of the hepatitis C virus.

Chris also holds an LLM degree in intellectual property law with Distinction from the University of Manchester, during which he undertook research into the intellectual property law framework for genetic sequences.

Chris is based at our Leeds office.
